I needed to earn more money, I was going travelling in six months but I hadn't told anybody of my plans yet as I knew they wouldn't agree to it.

I had been secretly working in aninternet cafe of an evening to get an extra income. I had been working under a user name that had nothing to do with me doing website designs and getting paidvia paypal, this way, nobody knew about my savings. My user name was important as this led people searching on the net direct to me and had to come up with one that people might search for. I also went to some networking meetings in the next town to me, and kept my personal life very private.

I couldn't stay too long in the one internet cafe as people became suspicious of what I was doing and started to come and look and I didn't want that. So I had found about seven and used them alternatively. When my parents asked where I was going I never told them I was going to an internet cafe, I told them I was networking with my friends. This to them was a polite way of saying I was going to the pub.

My time was coming to arrange my flights and again I did this in secret. I then sent invites to all my family and friends using my user name and inviting them to a networking event. They never knew it was from me.

The night came and they all turned up out of curiosity as they didn't know who it was from. I had arranged the night with all the different country flags that I would be travelling to and gave a speech on my reasons for doing it and why I had been so secretive.

To my surprise, my parents were fully supportive and actually gave me some money towards it. they told me that they wished they had done something like this when they were younger. I just couldn't imagine them travelling but I suppose everybody was young at some point and I just looked at my parents as though there was no way they would agree. This teaches you not to judge a book by its cover.
